Northeast states and their shared a vision for compelling public messaging

Northeast states and their shared a vision for compelling public messaging

We are all different states that face unique challenges every day, but at the same time we deal with many of the same issues in the world of communications, including work zone safety, bridge strikes, pedestrian and bicycle safety, and emerging technologies such as e-bikes and automated flagging devices. During this session, participants will have the chance to hear from communications professionals representing three Northeast states on some issues they face and ways that they promote the good work their agencies are doing.

  • The Delaware Department of Transportation recently launched a statewide safety campaign to educate e-bike and e-scooter users on where their use is and isn’t permitted, along with safety precautions that should be followed by all users to minimize the risk to themselves and others.
  • The New York State Department of Transportation will highlight an award-winning campaign they recently did as a way to break out from traditional public safety messaging and create a campaign that drivers could not ignore. Learn how the agency moved from concept to launch and how taking a louder approach helped them cut through the noise to influence driver behavior.
  • The Connecticut Department of Transportation will highlight a number of social media campaigns focused on issues such as safe winter driving, bridge strikes, work zone safety and safe driving language.
