serves as the Maryland State Highway Administrator, leading nearly 3,000 transportation professionals responsible for approximately 18,000 lane miles of non-toll roadway and more than 2,500 bridges statewide. Prior to his current role, Mr. Pines held senior leadership positions at the Maryland Transportation Authority, including Chief Engineer, Chief Operating Officer, and Executive Director. A Maryland public servant for more than 20 years, Mr. Pines holds credentials as a licensed professional engineer, a project management professional, a certified construction manager, and a certified customer experience professional. He is a graduate of AASHTO’s National Transportation Leadership Institute and a recipient of the 2020 DBIA Distinguished Leadership Award and the 2023 ACEC/MD President's Award.
