Developing a Statewide High-Injury Network: Scaling up a Proven Safety Program

This presentation will delve into the development and implementation of the first-of-its-kind in the nation, Statewide High-Injury Network (HIN). This strategic initiative is aimed at enhancing road safety by identifying and addressing the highest-risk areas. It will begin by exploring the impetus behind the creation of the HIN, the refinement of quality data to create the HIN, insights into the comprehensive process, and the robust methodology employed to establish the network. We will also discuss necessary stakeholder collaboration. Additionally, the presentation will discuss the alignment of existing and future safety programs with the HIN, emphasizing how integrated efforts can amplify impact. By sharing key lessons learned from the development and launch phases, we aim to provide valuable guidance for other states considering similar initiatives. This presentation will include ample time for audience engagement through a question-and-answer segment, fostering an interactive dialogue on the challenges and successes of implementing a High-Injury Network across an entire State transportation network.
